Freeport Mosquito Control Spraying Bay Loop, Hammock Bay and Hwy 20 West Tonight

Freeport Mosquito Control will run spray missions tonight across the Bay Loop, Hammock Bay and Hwy 20 West areas between 6 PM and 11:30 PM, after the city reported an increase in mosquito activity this week.

The city announced the five-and-a-half-hour window on its official Facebook page Wednesday. It is a much broader operation than Monday’s one-hour pass through the Kaleidoscope and Steamboat Landing areas, and it returns Freeport’s trucks to the extended late-night schedule the city ran for its overnight missions earlier in October, when spraying continued until 11:30 PM.

Bay Loop and Hammock Bay were last treated earlier this month on one of those overnight missions, and the same pairing got a late-July treatment after the summer population peaked. Tonight’s announced route lists the Hwy 20 West area alongside the two subdivisions.

As with any treatment, the usual precautions apply: close windows, bring pet food and water bowls inside, and stay indoors while the truck works the streets. Residents with questions can contact the city’s main line at (850) 835-2822.
