Freeport Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting Set for Dec. 5
Freeport’s 2026 Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting Ceremony is set for Saturday, Dec. 5 at City Hall, with the parade stepping off at 5:15 PM and the tree lighting to follow at 6:00 PM.
The city rolled out the date in a holiday graphic themed “The Joys of Christmas,” pinned to its Facebook page alongside word that applications are now open to join this year’s parade. The artwork promises food trucks, craft areas, live music and “so much more” around the downtown festivities.
The announcement settles the question Freeport has carried since spring, when the city’s season preview noted only that the 2026 date would come in the fall. Past parades have wound through downtown with floats, marching bands, classic cars, fire trucks, horses and Santa Claus before the crowd gathers for the tree lighting — the moment the holiday season officially starts in Freeport.
This year’s celebration lands on a December calendar that is filling up fast. Registration for the Festival of Trees opened last week, giving residents an early way into the city’s holiday lineup.
The parade begins at 5:15 PM at Freeport City Hall, 112 FL-20, with the tree lighting ceremony following at 6:00 PM. Residents and organizations aiming to march can find sign-up details in the city’s Facebook announcement.
