Freeport Opens Festival of Trees Registration

Freeport Opens Festival of Trees Registration

The City of Freeport has opened registration for the 2026 Festival of Trees, the decorated-tree competition that fills City Hall with holiday displays each December and lets the public vote for the winning tree.

Organizations, businesses, churches, clubs and families can enter through the city’s online application, which went live this week alongside word that this year’s “The Joys of Christmas” holiday festival is taking shape. It is an early bright spot for a town still cleaning up from Hurricane Isaias.

The tradition works like this: entrants set up and decorate a Christmas tree inside City Hall in the Chambers, and the display stays up for a week of public voting during City Hall hours. This year’s event dates run November 30 through December 6, with applicants welcomed in on Sunday, November 29 from noon to 5 p.m. to set up their trees. The winner is announced Saturday, December 5 at the Annual Tree Lighting event at 6 p.m.

That ceremony doubles as the finale of “The Joys of Christmas,” the city’s holiday festival built around the Christmas parade — this year set for Saturday, December 5, stepping off at 5:15 p.m. — and the tree lighting that follows at 6 p.m. Display break-down comes Sunday, December 6, or Monday at noon.

Registration is open through the city’s online application form, linked from the city’s announcement. Questions can go to City Hall at 850-835-2822, 112 Hwy 20 West.
