Freeport Mosquito Control Spraying North Jackson St, Marquis Way and Riverwalk Areas Tonight
Freeport’s mosquito trucks will be out for the third time this week tonight, running a five-and-a-half-hour mission that begins in the North Jackson St area and continues toward Marquis Way, Riverwalk, Old Jolly Bay, Hwy 20 East and The Bluffs between 6 PM and 11:30 PM.
The city announced the route on its official Facebook page Thursday afternoon. It follows Monday’s one-hour pass through the Kaleidoscope and Steamboat Landing areas and Wednesday’s overnight mission across Bay Loop, Hammock Bay and Hwy 20 West — a run the city said answered an increase in mosquito activity this week.
Tonight’s route reprises the overnight pattern Freeport ran earlier this month, when spray trucks also started in the North Jackson St area and worked toward Marquis Way, Riverwalk and Old Jolly Bay until 11:30 PM. The same neighborhoods anchored the weekly spray schedule the city launched in late May, and crews have kept a steady rotation since, including a July route that started on North Jackson Street.
As with any treatment, the usual precautions apply: close windows, bring pet food and water bowls inside, and stay indoors while the truck works the streets. Residents with questions can contact the city’s main line at (850) 835-2822.
