City of Freeport Offices to Close for Labor Day
City of Freeport offices will close Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day, with normal operations resuming Tuesday, September 8 at 8 a.m.
The closure covers all city administrative functions, meaning residents won’t be able to conduct in-person business at City Hall on the holiday. The city announced the schedule on its official Facebook page, noting that regular hours return the following morning.
Labor Day, observed the first Monday of September, is a federal holiday honoring the American workforce — a fitting backdrop for a city whose own workforce has spent the summer keeping up with one of the fastest-growing corridors in Northwest Florida. Because the holiday falls on a Monday, residents get the full three-day weekend without any midweek makeup closures.
Residents who need to handle time-sensitive city business — permit questions, utility payments, or scheduling with city departments — should plan around the closure and take care of anything urgent before the end of the week. Emergency services are unaffected by the administrative shutdown.
