Walton County to Hold Ribbon Cutting for Freeport Teen Library
The Walton County Board of County Commissioners will host a ribbon cutting ceremony at the new Freeport Teen Library, marking the official opening of the county’s first dedicated space for teen library programming.
The ceremony was announced on the commissioners’ Facebook page, which highlighted the new facility at 902 FL-20 Suite 122 in Freeport. The teen library operates as part of the Walton County Public Library System, which serves residents through five locations across the county including the main Freeport Public Library at 76 State Highway 20 West.
The Freeport Teen Library offers a weekly lineup of programming for ages 12 to 18, including a Manga, Anime, and Comic Book Club on Wednesdays, Game Night on Thursdays, Chess Club on Fridays, an “Adulting 101” series on Mondays covering practical life skills like budgeting and job researching, and a “Dare to Dabble” craft program on Tuesdays.
For Freeport families, the teen library fills a gap in youth programming that previously required a drive to DeFuniak Springs or the coastal branch in Santa Rosa Beach. The dedicated space on FL-20 puts age-appropriate programming within the Freeport city limits, offering local teenagers a structured environment for after-school and summer activities alongside the county’s traditional library services.
