City of Freeport to Close July 3 for Independence Day
City of Freeport offices will close Friday, July 3, in observance of Independence Day, with normal operations resuming Monday, July 6 at 8 a.m.
The closure aligns with the federal holiday observance, which shifts the Fourth of July recognition to Friday, July 3, since July 4 falls on a Saturday this year. All city administrative offices will be affected by the one-day shutdown, meaning residents won’t be able to conduct in-person business at City Hall on Friday.
Freeport’s Independence Day festivities are set for Saturday, July 4, with the city’s annual parade stepping off at 6 p.m. from the Learning Center and fireworks following at the Sports Complex. The celebration includes food vendors, family activities, and a parade route that winds through downtown Freeport. A detour map has been posted for residents who need to navigate around the parade corridor.
Walton County offices are also closing for the holiday weekend, shutting down Thursday, July 2, through Monday, July 6. County residents who need to visit either the DeFuniak Springs administration building or the South Walton Annex should plan accordingly and handle any time-sensitive county business before Thursday.
The Freeport Municipal Pool will follow its regular summer schedule during the holiday weekend, though residents should check the city’s Facebook page for any last-minute adjustments to lifeguard availability.
