If there’s one event that puts Freeport on the map every fall, it’s Bayfest. Now in its 12th year, this annual festival has grown from a small community gathering into one of the most anticipated events on the Florida Panhandle’s fall calendar.

What is Bayfest?

Bayfest is Freeport’s signature outdoor festival — a full weekend of live music, local vendors, food trucks, arts and crafts, and enough small-town charm to remind you why you live here (or why you should).

The festival typically takes place in late September or early October in downtown Freeport. The city hasn’t announced the exact 2026 dates yet, but based on past years, expect it to land on a weekend in that window.

Highlights

Live Music: Local and regional bands take the stage throughout the weekend. Past lineups have included country, rock, and bluegrass acts — something for everyone.

Arts & Crafts Vendors: Dozens of local artisans and vendors set up booths selling everything from handmade jewelry to woodwork to custom t-shirts. It’s a great place to knock out some early Christmas shopping.

Kids’ Activities: Face painting, games, and plenty of room to run around.

How to Get There

Bayfest is held in downtown Freeport. If you’re coming from the beach (30A), head north on US-331. From I-10, take Exit 85 and head south on US-331. Freeport sits right in the middle — about 20 minutes either way.

Parking is typically available in designated lots around downtown, but it can fill up during peak hours. Arrive early or be ready for a short walk.
