This Weekend: Freeport's 4th of July Parade & Fireworks
It’s that time of year again — Freeport is getting ready to paint the town red, white, and blue. If you’ve never experienced the city’s 4th of July celebration, you’re missing out on one of the best small-town Independence Day events on the Florida Panhandle.
Parade: Saturday, July 4, 2026 at 4:00 PM
The parade kicks off at 4:00 PM sharp from the Freeport Learning Center. Floats, classic cars, marching groups, local businesses, churches, and clubs all line up to show their patriotism. It’s free to participate or watch — just find a spot along the route and enjoy.
Heads up: State Road 20 closes to traffic along the parade route at 3:45 PM and reopens once the parade wraps up. If you’re driving through town, plan a detour.
Want to be in the parade? The city welcomes businesses, organizations, churches, and anyone with a creative float idea. Applications are available at City Hall or online. Registration typically closes about a week before the event.

Fireworks: 8:30 PM at the Sports Complex
After the parade, the party moves to the Freeport Regional Sports Complex for the fireworks show at 8:30 PM. The city puts on a solid display — not quite Disney, but definitely enough to make the kids gasp and the adults feel like kids again.
Food vendors will be on-site, so come hungry. Bring a blanket or chairs, find a spot on the grass, and settle in for the show.
What to Bring
- Lawn chairs or a blanket
- Bug spray (it’s Florida in July — you know the deal)
- Cash for food vendors
- Your patriotism (optional but encouraged)
Parking
The Sports Complex has parking, but it fills up fast. Arrive early, carpool if you can, and be prepared for a short walk.
Rain Plan
If the weather doesn’t cooperate, check the City of Freeport Facebook page for updates. Florida summer storms are unpredictable, but the city usually does its best to make the show happen.
