WCSO Hosts Back-to-School Splash Bash Saturday at Wee Care Park
The Walton County Sheriff’s Office is hosting its annual Back-to-School Splash Bash this Saturday, Aug. 8, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Wee Care Park in DeFuniak Springs, offering free backpacks, food, and water activities for local students headed back to class.
The event, organized by the Sheriff’s Office School Resource Division, invites families across Walton County to enjoy an afternoon of water slides, music, and community fun before the new school year begins. Along with the entertainment, deputies will distribute hundreds of free backpacks filled with basic school supplies on a first-come, first-served basis. Free food and drinks will be available for all attendees.
The Splash Bash is a partnership between the Walton County Sheriff’s Office and several community organizations. The event has been a recurring tradition in Walton County, with previous years drawing families from Freeport, DeFuniak Springs, and surrounding areas for an afternoon of outdoor activities and school supply giveaways.
WCSO’s School Resource Division operates throughout Walton County, including in Freeport, where school resource deputies serve as liaisons between the sheriff’s office and local schools. The Splash Bash is one of the division’s largest community outreach events of the year, aimed at building positive relationships between deputies and the students they serve.
Wee Care Park is located in DeFuniak Springs. Families from Freeport and all of Walton County are welcome to attend. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early, as backpacks are limited and distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
