Freeport Man Climbs Tree to Avoid Arrest After Property Dispute
A Freeport man was arrested Tuesday morning after brandishing a gun during a property dispute on Pine Street and climbing a tree to avoid capture, according to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office.
Raymond McGlamry, 46, drove to Pine Street and confronted power company employees working in the area while deputies were working an off-duty detail nearby. McGlamry exited his vehicle with a firearm in hand and began yelling at the workers, prompting deputies to intervene.
According to WCSO, a deputy issued multiple verbal commands for McGlamry to drop the weapon. McGlamry tossed the gun in front of his vehicle and then climbed into a tree in an attempt to avoid arrest. Deputies took him into custody shortly after.
McGlamry, whose address is listed as 208 Pine Street in Freeport, faces two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, one count of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer with a deadly weapon, and one count of resisting arrest without violence. He was booked into the Walton County Jail on Tuesday.
The incident highlights the quick response of WCSO deputies who were already on scene working a separate detail in the area. No injuries were reported during the confrontation or arrest.
